COP21 RIPPLES Review Meeting

Having reached the mid-point of the project in the summer of 2018, COP21 RIPPLES held a meeting to review project progress to date.

It was organised on the 13th of September in Brussels, along with the European Commission (EC), who was represented by Dr. Frederik Accoe, Project Advisor of the Climate Action H2020 Programme, based at the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME). The expert reviewer was Dr. Maryse Labriet from Eneris Environment Energy Consultants.

The team representing the COP21 RIPPLES Consortium was comprised of representatives of lead partners from all Work Packages (WP), led by IDDRI as the Project’s Coordinator. The Review considered the period between the start of the project and end of May 2018. The supporting presentation of the meeting is available to read.

The meeting was an excellent opportunity to collectively reflect on project developments to date, and discuss the actions and measures required to further optimise the performance and outreach potential. The COP21 RIPPLES team has been thrilled with the positive feedback and interest from the review, in particular in relation to its policy-relevance and the number of novel aspects the project incorporates, including multi-disciplinarily and multi-scale angles, and the use of narratives in order to build bridges between different research scopes.

The project received highly valuable recommendations for refining our key messages and the communication of the research results. The project’s consistency was tested with regards to the use of external scenarios and the coverage of our work. From the review process, the project’s weaknesses and strengths became clearer, and corrective measures have been identified and put in place, in order to maximise the impact that the consortium want to achieve.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved, both in review meeting process (especially to Frederik and Maryse) and the project so far, for their commitment to continuously add value to COP21 RIPPLES.

Yours sincerely,

The COP21 RIPPLES Consortium
